The village of Coaltown of Balgonie sits on the eastern outskirts of the much larger town of Glenrothes and offers a few nice walks.
This route begins on the main street of the village and takes the walker out into the surrounding fields on a circular route.
The start point can be reached by bus or car easily. There are plenty of places to park your car throughout the village.
The paths throughout can be muddy and uneven but are easy walking in dry weather.
Leaving the start point you head southwards out of the village on a farm track and shortly you will be in the midst of fields. The trail threads it’s way through the fields via tracks.
Take care as you pass the farm yards as they can be quite busy with farm machinery.
The route is easy to follow and offers a lot to see.
