The countryside surrounding Blairhall offers lots of walking routes.
This route is another that my family and I enjoy along with our dog Barney.
This is my second route starting in the village and is popular with many other dog walkers in and around the village. The route can begin anywhere in the village. There are plenty of places to park and the village can be reached by bus as well.
Leaving the village you hop on to the West Fife Way which is a part of Route 764 of the National Cycle Ways scheme. The path was formerly a railway line and is well maintained and makes for some easy walking. The path continues on to Dunfermline and I have walked dit many times in a summer evening.
The route then turns off right on to a woodland trail that leads you through the East Grange woods and on towards to Balgownie Wood. Bug spray is advisable on the woodland in the summer months.
Leaving Balgownie Wood you cut along the edge of a field before meeting a farm track which leads you to a minor road (Gallows Loan) which you follow back up to the West Fife Way. Take care on this section of road as it can be very busy in the evenings so keep children and dogs close at hand.
When on to the path way turn right and head back to the original entry point to the path and make your return to the village and your starting point.
