The Cullaloe Hills are very small and hidden hill range located between Crossgates and Burntisland.

This is a nice and enjoyable short walking route no matter the weather or season.

The route begins at the Forestry Commission access way. The hills are covered in woodland. There is enough space for 3 cars to a park up and be aware of that this is a busy road so keep control of dogs and youngsters.

The Forestry Commission have put a very even and stable trail through the woodland although it can be very muddy in areas.

As you make your way into the woodland up the hill side the views of the Firth of Forth are both surprising and stunning.

At the half way point on the route you will find Cullaloe Temple (OS Grid NT 1793 8811), a 19th century octagonal folly of which little is known but it is believed to be connected to Cullaloe House with the stone being quarried from the nearby stone quarry. This makes an excellent rest stop especially in the rain or snow.

After leaving the folly you then find yourself on a looped section of path where you are treated to more spectacular views inland across Fife.

Once around the loop you head back towards your start point. You can either head back the way you came or veer left and take an alternative route to leads you through more of the woodland and back to the entrance.
