This long distance walking route takes the walker around the Kelty area and is an excellent summer time outing.
This route can be quite demanding especially in poor weather and is not suitable for this of limited walking ability.
The route begins in the car park of Blairadam Forest which has plenty of spaces available. The route initially cuts through the forest itself which follows the forest trails in a loop before you reach the underpass of the motorway.
On leaving the underpass you make your way through Keltybridge and on towards Lochore Meadows Country Park. Entering the park the path gives way to the park trails which you follow around the loch until you reach Harran Hill Wood which sits at the base of the small overlooking hill range.
Follow the trail through the wood and towards the second woodland of Benarty Wood. This is a steeper leg of the route and can be bypassed by following the road instead. The route then arrives in the village of Lochore itself. Follow the road signs for Lochore Meadows Country Park and enter the park.
Follow the paths towards the opposite side of the loch and skit along the shore. Exiting the park you are then taken in to Kelly itself. This section of the route can be busy with traffic so take care. The route makes it way through the village before taking you back into the forest and on to your starting point.
I discovered this route thanks to a friend who runs and thought it would be a good for walking too.
