The village of Largoward offers a number of good countryside road walks.
This easy to walk trail circles around the village and the surrounding farmland.
The walk begins next to the Village Hall. There are plenty of places to park and the village is easily reached by bus.
This route while easy going does mainly involve road walking so please take care and keep children close at hand and your dogs on leash. There are grass verges on the majority of the roads involved but in some areas this is narrow so please be alert.
Leaving the village you follow the B941 and shortly after passing South Bowhill Farm you take the turning left on to a minor road. The scenery is lovely and there are plenty of places to stop and sit down and enjoy it.
The road arcs around the farmland until you reach a point where you turn off on to a plantation road. be aware of farm traffic on this road. This area is prone to midges so make sure you have insect repellent at hand. This leg of the route takes you through a young forestry plantation and eastwards back towards the B941.
Once you meet the road turn right and head back to the village. Just as you reach the village turn left on to Kings Highway and follow it along until you reach St Andrews Road where you turn right and it is then a short walk back to your starting point.
This is a very pleasant walk in the Spring and Summer and one our walking group have enjoyed a number of times over the past 5 years.
