Mount Hill is located near the town of Cupar and offers a nice short walk.

This route takes in the hill itself and the Hopetoun Monument.

The route begins at a entrance to a field. I rode my motorbike to the start location and there was no issue with parking. Important note - Those of you who drive a car please make sure you do not block the road or entrance as the nearby farm need to access the area daily (there is a sign reminding people of this). You will have to park somewhere along the grass verge but take care of the ditches and rocks.

The route makes it way through the fields following the farm track towards the hill itself . Mount Hill is partially wooded and has a number of tracks winding their way too the summit. You can follow these all the way to the monument itself.

The Hopetoun Monument was erected by the people of Cupar in 1826 in memory of the British soldier John Hope, 4th Earl of Hopetoun The monument takes the form of a tall Roman Doric column and it makes good stopping point for a break. You can see nice aerial video of the hill and monument here - https://youtu.be/Yt2QozOvF6c

There is also a Ordnance Survey Trig Point near to the monument OS Grid NO 3311 1648.

The walk down is gentle and easy going and the route takes you back to the road where you began.

Although this is not a long walk it does offer a nice view and is enjoyable in the summer.
