The tiny village of Star sits in the countryside to the West of Kennoway.
The village offers some interesting places to explore and walk.
This short circular walking route takes you on a enjoyable stroll through the farmland North of the village. The route can be started from any point in the village and there are plenty of places to park your car on the side of the road.
The start point for this route is on the Western edge of the village. From the start point walk the short distance and on to the road leading to Broomfield Farm (signposted at junction). Follow this road out of the village into the farmland and past the farmhouse and on to the track that leads into Star Moss. This track can be muddy in the cover months especially and is popular with mountain bike riders so be careful. Follow the trail through the wood and onward to Cardknolls. At the crossroads in the track turn right and follow it through Drummy Wood.
At OS Grid Reference NO 3261 0509 turn right onto the road towards Ballinkirk Farm. This stretch of road is normally quite quiet but care should be taken.

After roughly 1.5km the road takes a tight bend to the left and in the corner on the right you will see a signpost for the footpath to Star - OS Grid Reference NO 3208 0357. This track was fairly overgrown when I walked it during the summer and was muddy but is still fairly easy to walk. The footpath follows the course of the Kennoway Burn for about 0.5km until it turns left and heads into the village and the main road. Turn right and follow the road back to your starting point.
This is great walk to head out on with friends and there are some geocaches in the area to keep the more adventurous happy.
