My friends and I formed our own walking group in the summer of 2017 and we are really enjoy exploring Fife.

We like to seek out walking routes that aren’t well known and this is a good example of one we found in August.

We thought we would share this 8km route through Walk Fife as it offers a little something for everyone. The route begins in the car park just of Keltyhill Road and heads North through the small park and out onto Main Street where you will turn left.

Follow Main Street as it passes through Kelty, Keltybridge and on towards the little known hamlet of Maryburgh. The section from Keltybridge to Maryburgh involves some road walking so please be careful.

Walk Fife note: Please abide by the Highway Code for walkers - you can learn more by visiting http://www.ramblers.org.uk/advice/safety/highway-code-for-walkers.aspx

Pass through Maryburgh and when you reach a sharp bend right (OS Grid Reference NT 1370 9609) cross over on to the farm track that leads you under the motorway.

After passing the bridge you will find yourself in Blairadam Park. Follow the track as it winds it’s way South towards the Forest. This stretch of the walk skirts along the edge of a private estate so please be respectful of the residents as you walk on by.

The track is easy to walk along and eventually leads you to a footbridge that crosses the Kelty Burn. Leaving the bridge follow the forest path as it leads you West into the forest. The trail then leads you along the course of the burn and is again easy and pleasant to walk along although insect repellent is advisable in the warmer months.

The path beings to lead you up from the burn trail to a wider and well established Forestry Commission track on which you will walk Eastwards through the woodland and back towards Kelty. This stretch is really popular with cyclists and runners so take care.

The path leads back under the motorway and back int Kelly and out on to Main Street where you turn right and follow the road until you see Church Row on the right where you turn right and back into the small park where you will find your original starting point.

Route shared with Walk Fife by Art, Rob, Janice, Gwen and Cathy.
