Walk Fife shares all sorts of walking routes through our website but what if you prefer something more traditional?

Walks Fife is a handy little pocket guide to 27 walks throughout the region.

The book takes the form of a small paperback and is published by well known guidebook publishers Hallewell. The paper used is of fairly good quality and should last a live living in you backpack or pocket. The typeface is clear and of good size making reading the directions easy enough.

The introduction offers a brief but informative history of the region and does miss out some of the more obvious facts about Fife so isn’t really geared to those new to the area but it makes for pleasant reading.

The routes are each very clearly described and are very easy to follow even for the beginner. Each route is accompanied by a map on which the route is marked with a dotted line. Unfortunately due to the small size and minimum detail included in the maps, some of the routes are hard to follow without referring to an Ordnance Survey map of the area.

Summary

The guide would be greatly improved if more details were added to the maps and if the published included some Ordnance Survey grid references to assist readers in locating the route easily.

A inexpensive handy little pocket guide to keep in your car or backpack should you want to explore the Kingdom.
